The SL-1803MkIII employs 6N+PCOCC-A in the same way as the high-grade models and offers high sound quality and high-fidelity reproduction with an excellent balance between cost and performance. Specifications
Conductor Configured by combining 6N-0FC to obtain well-balanced stable sound quality with PCOCC-A to obtain a high resolution. The centrally provided 6N-OFC features a capability for stable clean sound quality due to a massive reduction in the level of impurities. The peripherally provided PCOCC-A is formed by annealing the simple crystalline copper wire PCCOC. Consequently, this material offers an even more natural sound while continuing to enjoy "the retention of a smooth surface when stretched, the superb higher frequency characteristics and the capability for high-resolution sound" which characterize PCCOC. When PCCOC-A is used in peripheral layers, skin effects mean that the high-frequency band sound which requires a high resolution is mainly confined to the surface of the conductor, and the clarity of the 6N-OFC is allowed to stand out.
Insulator Foamed polystyrene is employed in the intra-layer insulator to lower the static capacitance of the insulator. Since static capacitance is directly related to attenuation of signal energy in the voice-band, a low static capacitance is prerequisite in cables constructed to reduce energy loss.
Shield After winding copper foil reinforced with intra-layer polyester tape, an OPC weave is implemented. This two layer shield structure produces a stable shielding effect over a wider bandwidth.
Halogen-free sheath A flexible halogen-free sheath which contributes to vibration control is employed. Halogen-free materials are generally based on a polyethylene material. However with regard to the problem of vibration, flexible PVC sheathes have certain desirable properties which are difficult to ignore. The SL-1803MkIII solves the problem by employing a newly-developed sheath material for AV cables with vibration controlling properties which have been improved to the level of flexible PVCs.
